DELAWARE COUNTY JURY CONVICTS INDIANAPOLIS MAN OF MURDER
Muncie Indiana – Today a Delaware County jury deliberated for a little over 4 hours before convicting Randal Moon Jr. (DOB 6/13/1985)
of: Count 1: Murder, a felony, Count 2: Arson Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 2 Felony, Count 3: Kidnapping, a Level 3 Felony, Count 4: Obstruction of Justice, a Level 6
Felony, Count 5: Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice, a Level 6 Felony. The trial began on September 14, 2026. The Honorable Judi L. Calhoun, Judge
of the Delaware Circuit Court No. 1 set sentencing for October 3, 2026 at 1:30 pm. Pursuant to Indiana law:
• Murder is punishable by 45 – 65 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
• A Level 2 Felony is punishable by 10 – 30 years in prison and up to
a $10,000 fine.
• A Level 3 Felony is punishable by 3 – 16 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
• A Level 6 Felony is punishable by 6 months – 2.5 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
After the verdict was returned, Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Hoffman said “Yet another violent felon has been taken off the streets. Justice has been served today. I am proud of Chief Deputy Prosecutor Zach Craig, Deputy Prosecutor Maricel Driscoll, Prosecutor’s Office Investigator Heather Winters, and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, including Lt. John Branson, for their hard
work and dedication in this case.”
