On August 9, 2026, at approximately 7:18 p.m., deputies with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 8400 block of South Lynn Street in Daleville following a report of possible shots fired.
Prior to responding, deputies were aware of information indicating the homeowner may have been attempting to provoke a confrontation with law enforcement. Based on the circumstances, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was activated and responded to the scene.
A standoff lasting approximately nine hours followed. During the incident, gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. No law enforcement officers or civilians were injured.
The standoff concluded when the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
The Indiana State Police assisted the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office throughout the incident.
There is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available
