Indianapolis 37-year-old Niloy Talukder has been sentenced to four years of in-home detention and two years of probation after a plea deal was reached in Madison County in his child solicitation case. The Herald Bulletin says Talukder arranged a meeting with a meeting with a Westfield police officer posing as a 14-year-old girl.
It’s Madison County 4-H Fair time, and that’s as good a time as any to celebrate what 4-H means to the community. More than 800 projects are in competition during this year’s fair, and volunteer Brian Donohoe tells “The Anderson Journal” it’s a worthwhile endeavor.
Muncie 40-year-old Johnathon Major Guffey faces six criminal charges stemming from an incident at a Hartford City restaurant. The Star Press says police were called to the McDonald’s on Walnut Street where Guffey’s alleged offenses included intimidation, reckless driving and, later, an attempt to head-butt an officer at the jail.
Fire Up DWNTWN is adding some new attractions for its fifth anniversary celebration Saturday in downtown Muncie from noon to 10 p.m.
Anderson 46-year-old Tony Lee Schoettmer has been sentenced to 60 years in prison after reaching a plea agreement in the 2025 murder of Jim Gaw. The Herald Bulletin says Gaw’s truck was found at Schoettmer’s residence last year, and a bill of sale he produced later proved to be forged.
Alexandria, Lapel, Elwood and Frankton have been confirmed to take part in both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments at this year’s Central Indiana Holiday Basketball Classic. Pendleton Heights will compete in the boys’ field. The Herald Bulletin says this year’s boys tournament will feature 42 teams, and the girls tournament will feature 36.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ Perkinsville Public Access Site will be closed temporarily this week as work is done to improve the river access site. The Herald Bulletin says it’s part of work beginning on the Perkinsville anchor park project.
