Yorktown 38-year-old Richard Turner faces nine counts of bank fraud in U.S. District Court after an FBI investigation determined he submitted false lien waivers through his business – Turner Remodeling – to receive a $188,000 loan. A news release says Turner used the money for personal expenses, including gambling.
Yorktown libero Chloe Ritchie has committed to play volleyball at Louisville as part of the recruiting Class of 2027. The Indy Star says Ritchie is the 56th-ranked player in Indiana, and she chose Louisville over her other finalist – Wisconsin.

Yorktown’s Fourth of July celebration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the 4 for the 4th Race at Civic Green. The Legion Post 321 Duck Race takes place at 1 p.m. at Buck Creek Bridge. Nick Werner has been named the executive director of the Red-Tail Conservancy. Werner most recently served as content director at Muncie’s Intersection marketing agency and has also worked in communications at Ball State and as a writer for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The Madison County Commissioners have named Deandre Coleman as the new superintendent of the Madison County Highway Department. The Herald Bulletin says Coleman will replace Scott Harless, who served as superintendent for 23 years.
The Anderson On Tap Craft Beer Festival returns Saturday (June 20) from 1 to 5 p.m. at Dickmann Town Center. Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the gate, if any tickets remain available. Designated Driver tickets will be available for $20 at the gate and include free water.
