The Indiana Primary election is complete, from voting on May 5, 2026.
For Indiana State Senator, District 26 – Republican Scott Alexander (he defeated Katherine (Kat) Nunley-Kritschwill) will face the unopposed Democrat Andrew Dale.
United States Representative, Fifth District – the Republican incumbent Victoria Spartz (she defeated Scott A. King) will face Democrat J.D. Ford, who defeated six other candidates.
Indiana Congressman Jefferson Shreve secured the Republican nomination for Indiana’s 6th District Tuesday night.
In the contested race for State Representative, District 34 to replace Sue Errington – Richard Ivy advances (he defeated Randall L. McCallister), to face the unopposed Democrat Sara Gullion.

For Judge of the Delaware Circuit Court, 46th Judicial Circuit, No. 5 – Republican Ben Freeman heads to November – and will face Democrat Amanda Dunnuck (she defeated Maricel Driscoll).
Delaware County commissioner, District 3: Matt Kantz, a Republican county council member, will face Democrat Ken Mace.
Delaware County Council, District 4: Incumbent Republican Jim Mochal defeated ex-council member Ryan Webb. The Democratic nominee is Michael Durall.
Just over 17% of registered voters turned out in Delaware County, about 3.5% more than the previous off-year primary.
For Madison County Sheriff, Incumbent Republican John Beeman will be opposed in November by Democrat Norman Rayford Jr. Beeman is looking to become the first Republican to win two consecutive terms as Madison County sheriff since John Gunter was elected in 1970 and 1974.

An affidavit has revealed the Jay County man involved in a struggle at the sheriff’s department last week tried to turn himself in for sexually abusing a pre-teen girl in 2013 or 2014. The Star Press says 44-year-old Michael Shawn Sargent became aggressive when told he’d need to go through the legal process and was offered a ride home, jumping onto an officer’s back and discharging the officer’s handgun. The April 2026 Preliminary Weather Summary from the National Weather Service showed an ALL-TIME WARMEST APRIL ON RECORD AT INDIANAPOLIS, and the 72th Driest April on record at that airport (Tied). Muncie’s average temperature was 6.2 degrees higher than normal. Muncie rain was just about 7/10’s of an inch higher than normal.
