MUNCIE, IN— The YMCA of Muncie, in partnership with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, invites the community to attend a Rock Steady Boxing Open House on April 28 from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at the Muncie YMCA, located at 615 N. Walnut St.
This special event will introduce Rock Steady Boxing, a non-contact, boxing-inspired fitness program designed specifically for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. The program focuses on improving strength, balance, coordination, and overall quality of life.
Parkinson’s disease affects approximately one million people in the United States, with that number expected to grow to 1.2 million by 2030. Programs like Rock Steady Boxing are making a meaningful difference by helping to slow disease progression, reduce falls and hospitalizations, and empower participants through movement and community support.
The open house offers a welcoming opportunity for individuals with Parkinson’s, caregivers, and the broader community to explore the program and connect with local resources.
Event attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about the Rock Steady Boxing program
- Tour the facility and view equipment
- Meet certified instructors and YMCA staff
- Ask questions and explore how to get started
- Learn about scholarship opportunities supported by Anthem
- Enjoy light refreshments
