Ball State’s Homecoming football game against Sacramento State on October 24 will kick off at 3:30 p.m. The Cardinals open the 2026 season on Saturday on the road against No. 1-ranked Ohio State, and the home opener is September 12 against Stony Brook.
Prairie Creek Reservoir officials have announced that the beach is closed for the rest of the season due to uneven gravel conditions and damage caused by recent heavy rainfall. In a Facebook post Wednesday, they also provided information about ordered replacement parts for damaged docks, but repairs are currently awaiting delivery of materials. Officials are asking renters for patience, noting that crews plan to work on every affected dock in the coming weeks. Maintenance crews have already made significant progress, repairing many of the wooden docks along the South Shore over the past week.
Governor Mike Braun recently re-emphasized his request that all public state institutions respect a tuition freeze through the 2026-27 school year. Ball State president Geoffrey Mearns says it was not difficult to comply.

Anderson Preparatory Academy has received more than $400,000 through a State Facilities Incentive Grant. The Herald Bulletin says the funds will help improve APA’s facilities and long-term financial stability.
A Muncie couple – 20-year-old Belinda Darlene Caldwell and 22-year-old Randall Jay Webb – has been arrested on suspicion of neglect. The Star Press says the couple was found Tuesday living inside a tent in an alley near Perkins Avenue with their 34-day-old infant.
