Less than an hour after a Ball State Text Alert was sent out early Sunday, and all clear was given after the first report was for “a subject with a gun in the area of University/Linden.” We reached out to Muncie Police, and were referred to University Police. A spokesman for BSU, Greg Fallon, referred us to MPD – Deputy Chief Melissa Criswell shared in a text that she could not answer for an alert put out by Ball State, but she would check with the supervisor that was on duty and get back to us with anything notable.

If you saw screenshots on social media about F16 fighter jets being scrambled over Muncie Saturday due to an unresponsive small aircraft – that was from 2009, according to Cory Kissick from the Delaware County EMA. More likely, the jets were part of the airshow at Peru, Indiana Grisson Air Reserve base – about a 5 minute flight. Kissick, and Timothy Baty, Muncie Airport Director believed the air show was the reason, and Jeff Stanley, Chief Deputy for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office told us there was no reports available to support the “scramble” rumor.
Muncie Community Schools IREAD-3 scores continue to soar. The school system saw 86% of its students achieve a passing score in the most recent round of testing, a leap of almost 7% from the previous year and 19% from 2024.

Muncie Mall security guard Charles Arthur Davis has been accused of battery against two people, including one juvenile, during a May confrontation. The Star Press says the incident began when two brothers, aged 25 and 13, were told to stop taking photos and video inside the mall. The 52-year-old Davis accused of slamming the older sibling into a glass door, among other physical misbehavior.
As of late last week, the Anderson Gaslight Festival’s Flood Aid for Anderson relief fund had crossed a $206,000 total, according to The Herald Bulletin. Anderson Indiana Main Street president Darla Sallee told “The Anderson Journal” last week that the goal was $200,000.
