MUNCIE, IN – The $2 Tour of the Village returns on Saturday, Aug. 29th, from 3 to 6 p.m. on University Avenue between Calvert and Dill Streets (and up Martin Street), near the Ball State University campus.
Admission is free and the first 50 people will get a $2 bill to spend on several special $2 items at Village shops – including food, goodie bags and more – at participating Village businesses.
The event, now in its seventh year, is hosted by the Riverside-Normal City Neighborhood Association, Muncie Action Plan, and Ball State University’s Office of Community Engagement.
“We look forward to this event each year!” said Krista Flynn of the Office of Community Engagement at Ball State. “It’s a great way for students and the community to enjoy all the cool things the Village has to offer!”
There will be so much to see and do! Visit more than 40 vendors lining the street. Enjoy lawn games and comfy chairs at one of the “grassy” gathering spots. Hop on the mechanical bull, play a giant game of Twister, or create a masterpiece in the make and take art area.
Two stages will offer entertainment. On the WCRD East Stage, check out live performances from Sofia Vaughn, Cherry Street and Nobody (K)new. On the West Stage, enjoy performances by Aerial Annex, Ball State’s Theatre and Dance Department, University Singers, and the Spirit of Muncie Marching Band. Sit and stay for the Pet Prince/Princess Contest, win some sweet treats at the cake walk, and jam out to the DJ.
The first 500 attendees will receive a $2 Tour of the Village “passport.” Get it stamped at designated Village businesses, then take it to the Welcome Tent to be entered in drawings for great prizes.
Want more? Just a few blocks away, the all-female Mariachi band Flor de Toloache will perform at the Brown Family Amphitheater at Ball State that night beginning at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to all as part of the Muncie Three Trails Music Series.
