Delaware County Emergency Management recently met with the Disaster Relief Director from the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana Disaster Relief (SBDR). Their disaster relief teams are now staged locally and prepared to assist residents affected by the recent flooding.
Residents who need assistance should continue submitting requests through 211, contact the Delaware County EOC, or report to the SBDR staging location at:
Old Town Hill Baptist Church
3000 S. Burlington Dr.
Muncie, IN 47302
The SBDR team will review requests, coordinate with the Delaware County EOC, and deploy trained disaster relief teams to affected homes.
Services Available at No Cost
Depending on the needs identified during an initial assessment, teams can provide:
Initial damage and safety assessments
Debris and damaged-content removal
Muck-out operations
Removal of damaged drywall, flooring, insulation, cabinetry, and other unsalvageable materials
Cleaning and sanitation of affected structural surfaces
Mold-prevention treatment
Assistance with drying and ventilation
Final walkthrough and recovery guidance for homeowners
Each property will be assessed before work begins, and a work order will be developed identifying the work that can be completed.
These services are provided at no cost to affected homeowners.
SBDR leadership has also been briefed on Adam Leach’s debris-removal operations.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VOLUNTEERS.
Community members who want to volunteer should NOT report to Old Town Hill Baptist Church.
The SBDR operation uses its own rostered and trained disaster relief personnel.
Individuals wishing to volunteer with the broader Delaware County flood recovery effort should register through United Way. The volunteer registration link is available on the Delaware County EMA Facebook page and Flood Recovery Hub.
