Yorktown edge rusher Chris Wilson has committed to play college football at West Virginia as part of the Mountaineers’ 2027 recruiting class. The Star Press says Wilson chose WVU over Auburn, Cincinnati and Purdue among others.
Fortville 35-year-old Cody Wayne Vaughn has been sentenced to five years on probation and eight years on sanctions as part of a plea agreement in a case from 2025. The Herald Bulletin says Vaughn was accused of leaving the scene of a 2025 accident in Anderson that killed 22-year-old Sebastian Sigler.
America’s Hometown Band will perform a free concert Wednesday at Muncie’s Westside Park at 7:30 p.m. “Solos in the Night” will focus on soloists and small music groups within the band, which is celebrating its 38th summer concert series.
Voice of the Colts Matt Taylor tells “Delaware County Today” there hasn’t been a major change on the broadcasting level since the death of former team owner Jim Irsay. But that doesn’t mean the man can easily be replaced.
The Madison County Council hopes to provide county employees with a 3 to 5 percent salary increase in the 2027 budget. The Herald Bulletin says the council approved a 5 percent bonus for employees earning less than $100,000.
Tennessee-based Abraham Anderson has filed a lawsuit against township official Tiffany Harless, asking for $2 million in damages and for Harless to be barred from visiting Mounds Mobile Home Court. The Herald Bulletin says Harless is accused of violating a no-trespassing order and engaging in false communication with tenants.
All United States Postal Service locations will be closed Friday in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Regular mail delivery and retail services will resume Saturday. Many postal services and products remain available at usps.com.

After 15 years, the Gus Macker tournament is back in Delaware County July 18 & 19. The Muncie Southside Neighborhood Association is proud to present this 3-on-3 basketball tournament at Wapahani High School. According to a social media post, registration will start on July 17 with games happening July 18 & 19. They planned to hold it at Southside middle school since December, but were told just a few weeks ago, that “Southside Middle School and all MCS properties could no longer be used due to summertime construction. Wapahani stepped up very graciously and offered to allow it to be held there. We need both players and participants to help us make this year a success. If it is deemed so, then it becomes a 3 year contract. We can keep the Macker back for good if this year goes well. Wapahani is helping us to do just that.”
He told WMUN’s “Delaware County Today” the reasoning behind his public service was instilled at a young age.
State senator JD Ford is running to represent Indiana’s fifth district in the United State Congress.
The Jay County Civic Theater has elected three board members to three-year terms. Reid Knuth was re-elected for the third time. Katie Loy was elected to her first three-year term after originally being appointed to fill an expiring term. And Julie Crandall was elected for the first time.
The Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting tomorrow (June 17) to discuss a proposed sidewalk project on State Road 9 in Anderson. The Rangeline Community Center will host the meeting beginning with an open house at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation at 6 p.m.
