Major change is coming to the Muncie Crisis Center. The City of Muncie announced Wednesday the building on West Eighth Street will be provided to the Muncie Mission to replace the crisis center with a no-cost community health clinic. The Star Press says the city and Meridian Health Services will continue to operate the crisis center through the end of the year.

Michael Hicks wrote this week in the Star Press citing a study that found restrictions on wind and solar energy cost Indiana counties hundreds of millions of dollars and nearly 9,000 jobs annually. His Star Press story summary said that while some concerns about renewable energy are legitimate, the study suggests that restricting it shrinks a county’s economy and reduces employment.
Other studies after a quick search with AI indicate that while green energy creates jobs, it can negatively impact employment through regional job disparities, the loss of long-term, high-paying fossil fuel jobs, and temporary, short-term construction roles rather than permanent positions. Research published in PNAS shows that workers in “dirty” jobs often face challenges transitioning to green jobs, particularly older workers and those without college education, leaving some behind.
Ball State’s spring football practice concludes tomorrow (Saturday) with the annual spring showcase at 1 p.m. at Scheumann Stadium. Second-year coach Mike Uremovich will welcome 23 freshman and 29 transfers for the 2026 season after finishing 4-8 in his debut season of 2025.
