John Guffy has organized a GoFundMe to support food, veterinary care, training and specialized equipment for the Eaton Police Department’s K9 unit. The goal is to raise at least $2,000 to help keep K9 officers Kurt and Lyken mission ready.
Defense lawyers are asking that 31-year-old Kimberly D. Grayson, who was found guilty last month of neglect in the 2022 fatal shooting of her 5-year-old daughter, be sentenced to home detention. The Star Press says Grayson’s daughter, Crystal, was shot in the head by her 6-year-old brother who removed a loaded gun from his parents’ bedroom.
Ball State’s Women of Beneficence has awarded its annual grants to university faculty and staff members. This year’s grants total nearly $70,000 and support Muncie Burris’ school garden, a resource room for teachers and the Cardinal Corner Middle School Book Club.

The seventh-ranked Ball State men’s volleyball team swept No. 9 Loyola Chicago on Saturday to claim its fourth Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association regular season title in the past five years. The Cards open the MIVA tournament at home Saturday against Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m.

The Indiana Supreme Court has declined last week to hear arguments from Republican Michael Garringer who has continued to fight for a spot on next month’s primary ballot. The Herald Bulletin says Garringer seeks a seat on the Madison County Board of Commissioners and will continue his legal fight now in the Indiana Court of Appeals.
The Town of Ingalls has announced it is undertaking hydrant flushing operations in the Summerlake subdivision through Friday. The Town told Fox-59 that residents could experience temporary water discoloration during the flushing process.
The Tulip Trot 5K run/walk is happening Saturday, taking participants through iconic parts of Muncie including Ball State and Minnetrista. The event supports the non-contact boxing-based Rock Steady Boxing fitness program at the YMCA of Muncie. Registration is open now through the Y.
