The Mayor drank it on social media this week, to prove it’s safe: with some Muncie residents noting an earthy or musty taste or smell in their drinking water, Indiana American Water says it’s likely a result of naturally occurring compounds associated with seasonal environment changes in Prairie Creek Reservoir. They note the water is still safe to drink.

A traffic stop last week on State Road 32 in Liberty Township has led to narcotics charges against a Muncie man and woman. The Star Press says a K-9 brought to the scene determined narcotics were present in a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Joshua Jay Bills, and a search later found meth and fentanyl along with drug paraphernalia. 49-year-old Monica Lyn Sloan also has been charged.
Both Madison county entities agreed to $90,000 annual payments for county dispatch services, with an additional $20,000 annually for the next 10 years. The Alexandria Board of Works and the City of Elwood have settled a long-simmering dispute with the Madison County commissioners in separate deals, according to the Herald Bulletin – each owed $360,000 for unpaid services since 2022.

The Alexandria City Council has made little progress in an effort to pay outstanding water and utility bills. The Herald Bulletin says the council must pass an ordinance to shift money from the general fund to the water utility and can’t pay the bills from accounts already in the red. The ordinance is held up in part because of a lack of clarity on the city’s financial standing.
A convicted sex offender has been arrested after a child pornography investigation in Yorktown. The Star Press says police seized a tablet at 42-year-old Matthew Landon Bowling’s home that contained “multiple images” of child sexual abuse material. Bowling was convicted of enticing someone under the age of 16 through interactive computer use in 2010 in Connecticut.

Delaware County 911 Communications Center posted this week, County officials posted “Please do not call 911 or dispatch to complain about the noise from the event.”
“Art for the People: Public Art Celebration Weekend” will celebrate eight public art works in Muncie on April 24 and 25. The event is hosted by the Muncie Arts and Culture Council, and the artworks were made possible by a $500,000 investment from the American Rescue Plan Act.
The National Sexual Violence Resource Center is recognizing the 25th anniversary of Sexual Awareness Month this April with a program called “Looking Back, Moving Forward.” Three in five Hoosier women and one in four Indiana men have been victims of sexual violence.
