Anderson Speedway has announced 2008 Daytona 500 champion Ryan Newman will return to compete in the Unified Group Services Little 500 presented by Ed Martin Automotive. The South Bend native’s best Little 500 finish was sixth place in 2024. This year’s race will take place May 23.

The Muncie Mission’s 22nd annual “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” event raised $207,000 last month. The Star Press says the event included 96 teams and 1,262 walkers who marched from the Walnut Street Fieldhouse to the mission on South Liberty Street.
The Madison County Parks & Recreation Board has received a state permit for its second anchor park to be built near the intersection of West Eight Street Road and Layton Road. The Herald Bulletin says the permit remains in effect through March 18, 2028.
Delaware County commissioners’ attorney John Brooke told The Star Press the indefinite suspension of Delaware County EMA director John Coutinho will continue until an internal investigation has been completed. Brooke said in a release the probe involves funding from a different department that works with the EMA.

47-year-old Quincey Phillip Minton is accused of pistol-whipping another man and attempting to rob him. The Star Press says a man was visiting a home on Muncie’s West 10th Street on Monday when he was struck in the head from behind by a masked man wielding “a large black firearm.” A woman at the house removed the assailant’s mask, and the man says he recognized Minton.
The Arts Place Jay County Campus will present an Elton John tribute concert on April 11. Lee Alverson will perform with authentic costumes and a life-size baby grand piano. The concert is part of the 2026 Eric R. Rogers Performing Arts Series, and tickets are available for $20 at myartsplace.org.
