Muncie’s MCL Restaurant & Bakery is closing its doors Sunday, but Muncie Redevelopment Commission director Jeff Howe told WMUN’s “765 Business Journal Radio Show” many of the Muncie Mall’s remaining retailers plan to stay in the market after the building is demolished.
49-year-old John Robert McFarland has pleaded guilty to two felony drug charges in Jay County. The Star Press says the former director of the Jay County EMS will serve 270 days in prison and the remainder of his 30-month sentence on probation.
YWCA Central Indiana is expanding its services and has purchased Muncie’s former Garfield Elementary School building. The Star Press says the YWCA will host programs focused on economic stability, housing support and educational opportunities for children in the building.
The 96-year prison sentences for two Anderson men have been upheld by the Indiana Court of Appeals. The Herald Bulletin says Demarcus Davis and Roger Rodriguez were convicted of the shooting death of Timothy Kates in 2023.
53-year-old Jermaine Murdock has been sentenced to 33 years on drug and firearm convictions as a habitual offender. The Herald Bulletin says Murdock was arrested in June 2022 after being found living in a stolen trailer on Mounds Road.
21-year-old Kylee M. Oliver has been sentenced to electronic home detention after pleading guilty to engaging in sexual activities with a 13-year-old boy. The Star Press says a Randolph County Court issued a three-year sentence, with the final two years served on probation.
The state has granted the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office an additional 72 hours to file charges against 21-year-old Sydnee Ryan Parkhurst. The Herald Bulletin says Parkhurst is suspected of leaving the scene of a motorcycle accident Saturday near the intersection of West Second and Henry streets that left 23-year-old Zachery Kincaid with serious injuries.
